In recent years Hans-Olav Forsang has built up his own business related to photography, film and visual communication with customers who are central to Norwegian business and politics. He also runs several mentoring programs for both adults and children, various workshops and for some years he was one of the head teachers at Bilder Nordic School of Photography. Hans-Olav Forsang's career consists of a wide range of photographic areas. He is best known for his many years as a photographer and picture editor at VG. He has won a number of national and international awards and held solo exhibitions in Norway as well as abroad, including one under the auspices of the United Nations. He is the first Scandinavian photographer to have won the World Press Photo “The Golden Eye Trophy”. He is currently working on a new book and exhibition project "Sweet Balloons", which is planned to be launched internationally in the autumn 2024.
